An Abhayās Mutter von ihrer Tochter
Meine liebe Mutter, erforsche diesen Körper, der unrein ist und faulig stinkt, von den Fußsohlen aufwärts und von den Haarspitzen abwärts.
Indem ich so meditierte, wurde all meine Wollust ausgerottet. Das Fieber der Leidenschaft ist abgeschnitten, ich bin abgekühlt und verloschen.
To Abhayā’s Mother From Her Daughter
My dear mother, examine this body, up from the soles of the feet, and down from the tips of the hairs, so impure and foul-smelling.
Meditating like this, all my lust is eradicated. The fever of passion is cut off, I’m cooled and quenched.
Abhayamātutherīgāthā
“Uddhaṁ pādatalā amma, adho ve kesamatthakā; Paccavekkhassumaṁ kāyaṁ, asuciṁ pūtigandhikaṁ.
Evaṁ viharamānāya, sabbo rāgo samūhato; Pariḷāho samucchinno, sītibhūtāmhi nibbutā”ti.
