Abhibhūta
Horcht auf, all meine Verwandten, die sich hier versammelt haben: Ich will euch den Dhamma lehren! Schmerzhaft ist Geburt, wieder und wieder.
Rüttelt euch auf! Strengt euch mehr an! Weiht euch der Anleitung des Buddha! Zermalmt das Heer des Todes wie ein Elefant eine Schilfhütte.
Jeder, der in dieser Lehre und Schulung beflissen meditieren wird, der das Umherwandern durch Wiedergeburten aufgibt, wird dem Leiden ein Ende machen.
Chapter One
Abhibhūta
Listen up, all my relatives, those who have gathered here: I’ll teach you Dhamma! Painful is birth again and again.
Rouse yourselves, try harder! Devote yourselves to the instructions of the Buddha! Crush the army of death, as an elephant a hut of reeds.
Whoever shall meditate diligently in this teaching and training, giving up transmigration, will make an end to suffering.
Paṭhamavagga
Abhibhūtattheragāthā
“Suṇātha ñātayo sabbe, yāvantettha samāgatā; Dhammaṁ vo desayissāmi, dukkhā jāti punappunaṁ.
Ārambhatha nikkamatha, Yuñjatha buddhasāsane; Dhunātha maccuno senaṁ, Naḷāgāraṁva kuñjaro.
Yo imasmiṁ dhammavinaye, appamatto vihassati; Pahāya jātisaṁsāraṁ, dukkhassantaṁ karissatī”ti.
