2. Das zweite Kapitel
Grundlagen für das Schaffen von Verdienst
Das wurde vom Buddha, dem Vollendeten, gesagt; das habe ich gehört:
„Mönche und Nonnen, es gibt drei Grundlagen für das Schaffen von Verdienst. Welche drei? Geben, Tugend und Meditation sind Grundlagen für das Schaffen von Verdienst. Das sind die drei Grundlagen für das Schaffen von Verdienst.“
Der Buddha sprach diese Sache. Dazu wird gesagt:
„Nur gute Taten soll man üben, deren glückliche Auswirkung sich vor einem erstreckt. Geben und Tugend, ein liebevolles Herz entwickeln:
Wenn er diese Dinge entwickelt hat, die drei, die Glück erbringen, wird dieser kluge Mensch in einer glücklichen, erfreulichen Welt wiedergeboren.“
Auch das ist eine Sache, die vom Gesegneten gesprochen wurde: Das habe ich gehört.
Chapter Two
Grounds for Making Merit
This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
“Mendicants, there are these three grounds for making merit. What three? Giving, ethical conduct, and meditation are all grounds for making merit. These are the three grounds for making merit.”
The Buddha spoke this matter. On this it is said:
“One should practice only good deeds, whose happy outcome stretches ahead. Giving and moral conduct, developing a mind of love:
having developed these three things yielding happiness, that astute one is reborn in a happy, pleasing world.”
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
Dutiyavagga
Puññakiriyavatthusutta
Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:
“Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, puññakiriyavatthūni. Katamāni tīṇi? Dānamayaṁ puññakiriyavatthu, sīlamayaṁ puññakiriyavatthu, bhāvanāmayaṁ puññakiriyavatthu— imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi puññakiriyavatthūnī”ti.
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
“Puññameva so sikkheyya, āyataggaṁ sukhudrayaṁ; Dānañca samacariyañca, mettacittañca bhāvaye.
Ete dhamme bhāvayitvā, tayo sukhasamuddaye; Abyābajjhaṁ sukhaṁ lokaṁ, paṇḍito upapajjatī”ti.
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
