„Mönche und Nonnen, sechs Dinge führen zum Niedergang eines Mönchs in Schulung. Welche sechs? Er genießt Arbeit, Reden, Schlafen und Gesellschaft. Er bewacht die Tore der Sinne nicht und isst ohne Maß. Diese sechs Dinge führen zum Niedergang eines Mönchs in Schulung.
Sechs Dinge verhindern den Niedergang eines Mönchs in Schulung. Welche sechs? Er genießt Arbeit, Reden, Schlafen und Gesellschaft nicht. Er bewacht die Tore der Sinne und hält beim Essen Maß. Diese sechs Dinge verhindern den Niedergang eines Mönchs in Schulung.“

“Chayime, bhikkhave, dhammā sekhassa bhikkhuno parihānāya saṁvattanti. Katame cha? Kammārāmatā, bhassārāmatā, niddārāmatā, saṅgaṇikārāmatā, indriyesu aguttadvāratā, bhojane amattaññutā— ime kho, bhikkhave, cha dhammā sekhassa bhikkhuno parihānāya saṁvattanti.
Chayime, bhikkhave, dhammā sekhassa bhikkhuno aparihānāya saṁvattanti. Katame cha? Na kammārāmatā, na bhassārāmatā, na niddārāmatā, na saṅgaṇikārāmatā, indriyesu guttadvāratā, bhojane mattaññutā— ime kho, bhikkhave, cha dhammā sekhassa bhikkhuno aparihānāya saṁvattantī”ti.
