Ohne Vertrauen
„Mönche und Nonnen, ein altehrwürdiger Mönch, der fünf Eigenschaften besitzt, ist seinen geistlichen Gefährten unlieb und unangenehm, wird nicht geachtet und nicht bewundert. Welche fünf? Er ist ohne Vertrauen, gewissenlos, unbesonnen, träge und geistlos. Ein altehrwürdiger Mönch, der diese fünf Eigenschaften besitzt, ist seinen geistlichen Gefährten unlieb und unangenehm, wird nicht geachtet und nicht bewundert.
Ein altehrwürdiger Mönch, der fünf Eigenschaften besitzt, ist seinen geistlichen Gefährten lieb und teuer, wird geachtet und bewundert. Welche fünf? Er ist vertrauensvoll, hat ein Gewissen, ist besonnen, energisch und weise. Ein altehrwürdiger Mönch, der diese fünf Eigenschaften besitzt, ist seinen geistlichen Gefährten lieb und teuer, wird geachtet und bewundert.“
Faithless
“Mendicants, a senior mendicant with five qualities is unlikable and disagreeable to their spiritual companions, not respected or admired. What five? They’re faithless, shameless, imprudent, lazy, and witless. A senior mendicant with these five qualities is unlikable and disagreeable to their spiritual companions, not respected or admired.
A senior mendicant with five qualities is dear and beloved to their spiritual companions, respected and admired. What five? They’re faithful, conscientious, prudent, energetic, and wise. A senior mendicant with these five qualities is dear and beloved to their spiritual companions, respected and admired.”

“Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato thero bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ appiyo ca hoti, amanāpo ca agaru ca abhāvanīyo ca. Katamehi pañcahi? Assaddho hoti, ahiriko hoti, anottappī hoti, kusīto hoti, duppañño hoti— imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato thero bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ appiyo ca hoti amanāpo ca agaru ca abhāvanīyo ca.
Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato thero bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ piyo ca hoti manāpo ca garu ca bhāvanīyo ca. Katamehi pañcahi? Saddho hoti, hirīmā hoti, ottappī hoti, āraddhavīriyo hoti, paññavā hoti— imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato thero bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ piyo ca hoti manāpo ca garu ca bhāvanīyo cā”ti.
