„Mönche und Nonnen, diese vier Personen findet man in der Welt. Welche vier?
Da besitzt eine Person die innere Sammlung des Herzens, doch nicht die höhere Weisheit, die die Gesetzmäßigkeiten klar sieht.
Dann besitzt da eine Person die höhere Weisheit, die die Gesetzmäßigkeiten klar sieht, doch nicht die innere Sammlung des Herzens.
Dann besitzt da eine Person weder die innere Sammlung des Herzens noch die höhere Weisheit, die die Gesetzmäßigkeiten klar sieht.
Dann besitzt da eine Person sowohl die innere Sammlung des Herzens als auch die höhere Weisheit, die die Gesetzmäßigkeiten klar sieht.
Das sind die vier Personen, die man in der Welt findet.“

“Mendicants, these four individuals are found in the world. What four?
One individual has internal serenity of heart, but not the higher wisdom of discernment of principles.
One individual has the higher wisdom of discernment of principles, but not internal serenity of heart.
One individual has neither internal serenity of heart, nor the higher wisdom of discernment of principles.
One individual has both internal serenity of heart, and the higher wisdom of discernment of principles.
These are the four individuals found in the world.”
Paṭhamasamādhisutta
“Cattārome, bhikkhave, puggalā santo saṁvijjamānā lokasmiṁ. Katame cattāro?
Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo lābhī hoti ajjhattaṁ cetosamathassa, na lābhī adhipaññādhammavipassanāya.
Idha pana, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo lābhī hoti adhipaññādhammavipassanāya, na lābhī ajjhattaṁ cetosamathassa.
Idha pana, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo na ceva lābhī hoti ajjhattaṁ cetosamathassa na ca lābhī adhipaññādhammavipassanāya.
Idha pana, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo lābhī ceva hoti ajjhattaṁ cetosamathassa lābhī ca adhipaññādhammavipassanāya.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro puggalā santo saṁvijjamānā lokasmin”ti.
